The Arc is committed to "building better lives" for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Everyday people with disabilities take part in programs of education, job training, neighborhood living and self-development; demonstrating that they can live and work in the community like everyone else.
The goal of The Arc is to improve the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through improved programs and services, increased public awareness and progressive legislation. This goal is based upon the belief that all individuals, regardless of handicap, grow, feel, hope and have dreams. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities must be viewed as equal in society, entitled to receive all the inherent rights and benefits as any other citizen.
