- GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Assistant Directors of Facility/Plant Operations and the Senior Chief Engineer, and in coordination with the appropriate Supervisors and/or the Assistant Vice President of Facility Services, the Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade work and maintenance and engineering duties for the Facilities Services Department.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Four (4) years apprenticeship program in the electrical trade required ORequivalent educational program.
Minimum of eight (8) years electrical trade experience required with education listed.
Installs, tests, and repairs electrical fixtures and power distribution circuits and utility equipment, internal communication ad alarm systems, and elements of heating and medical equipment.
Diagnoses and corrects trouble on electrical installations or recommends emergency courses of action to keep vital electrical equipment operational. Suggests most appropriate sources of electrical power for new installations or renovation projects. Works on power lines, including 110 to 12,500 volts and on high voltage transformers, switch gears, cubicles, etc.
Installs/repairs high-voltage electrical equipment including transformers, panels, feeders, motors, switches, and the like in a thorough and timely manner.
Performs corrective maintenance in accordance with the work order system.
Installs/repairs low-voltage equipment and systems such as fire alarm, communications, nurse call, computers, and the like in a thorough and timely manner.
Reads complex blueprints and diagrams, determines materials needed, estimates time and material costs on installations, and requests supplies to assure timely and adequate availability.
Checks incoming electrical devices and conformance with appropriate codes and tags/records inspection.
Assists other personnel or agencies in completing safety inspections, installation, servicing, and repair of any electrical equipment as required.
