Job Overview

This position is responsible for all activities related to processing financial transactions and preparing financial statements, information and analysis. The Accounting Manager will supervise a staff of two individuals and will be a “hands on” leader.
Essential Functions
• Maintenance of the Chart of Accounts, General Ledger and Financial Statements.
• Actively and accurately closes books on a monthly, quarterly and year end basis making sure all reporting deadlines are met.
• Prepares and files sales tax and property returns accurately and timely.
• Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collection and Payroll processes.
• Establishes appropriate Accounting and Financial policy and procedures.
• Assist when necessary to complete transactions in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collections and Payroll.
• Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions.
• Establish customer credit management, from initial applications to setting terms, as well as periodic review of performance and resolution of credit problems.
• Establish and follow inventory cycle counts and periodic inventories for all locations and establish controls for recording adjustments and changes.
• Establish and maintain controls over manual and electronic payments to vendors.
• Maintenance of fixed asset records ensuring all capital purchases and retired assets are accurately recorded.
• Reconciles daily cash position and maintains care, custody and control over cash transactions.
• Coordinate and facilitate the annual audit and tax preparation by the external accounting firm.
• Completion of Governmental reporting and surveys.
• Responds to inquiries from Senior Leadership and other managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
• Manage and mentor Accounting Department staff.
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.
This position rarely requires travel.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or related field.
• 5-7 years of accounting experience.
• Previous supervisory experience.
