Job Overview

Summary/Objective
The Shipping Assistant Manager works directly with the Shipping Manager to help with the planning and execution of shipping operations for Olympia Chimney Supply.

Essential Functions
• Oversee the daily activities of the Shipping Department; delegate duties and
• responsibilities, and direct projects to make operations move smoothly and efficiently.
• Provide ongoing training for Shipping Specialists.
• Ensure that Shipping Specialists are packing orders correctly through quality control
checks.
• Keep a firm record of freight packing slips and maintain a shipping log of invoices to verify the packer.
• Organize and reorganize to promote a safe work atmosphere.
• Communicates inventory needs to Purchasing Manager.
• Assist in planning future layout of building; organize new and existing products to
maximize efficiency of order processing.
• Organize weekly department meetings to discuss department issues, new products or procedures, quality of work, and to ensure smooth operation of the department.
• Ensure that Shipping Specialists are following safe work practices, utilizing required
personal protective equipment, and practicing good housekeeping habits.
• Cooperates fully with company policies and procedures both verbal and written.
• Other duties as required.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Temperature is varied to the temperature outside due to open doors and garages.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Certain tasks requires standing for entire shift.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, Flexible schedule required, 40+ hours per week.

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
Minimum of a high school education and one year of factory-related experience. Prior shipping and management experience preferred.
