Job Overview

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides assistance to residents with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, toileting, feeding, moving safely to activities, helping residents prepare for medical tests, and caring for the resident’s environment, including laundry and housekeeping. In addition, he or she maintains intake and output records as instructed and assists the nurse in giving enemas.

Responsibilities:

  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Ensure confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Respect resident confidentiality, privacy, and dignity in accordance with resident’s rights
  • Follow all personnel policies as outlined in Employee Handbook and Nursing Services section of the Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Attend at least 12 hours of in-service education (including all mandatory in-services) annually

Qualifications:

  • A current, unencumbered, active PA CNA certification (the certification status has been validated with the PA Nurse Aide Registry and the printed verification from the Registry is filed in the CNA’s employee file)
  • There are no findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment, neglect or misappropriation of resident property listed on the Registry
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Adequate problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Awareness of environmental safety
  • Able to work as part of a team
